1.2.1  Abstract  text  free text  A summary of what is in the data set.  Transportation infrastructure is a significant concern for industrial and manufacturing facilities. The locations of commercial and general aviation airports relative to available industrial sites and buildings is an important piece of information frequently asked for by prospects considering Virginia for their next manufacturing facility.

1.2.2

Purpose

text

free text

A summary of why the data set was developed.

The purpose of this data set is to provide a geographic representation of the location of each general aviation and commercial airport in the Commonwealth. This data combined with infrastructure, utility, environmental sensitivity, labor, demographics and quality of life data are used to select sites and buildings for industrial development based on a prospect's needs.

1.2.3 Supplemental Information text free text Other descriptive information about the data set. Some changes were created by combining fine watershed detail delineated for two Planning District Commissions in Virginia by the ISSL. Labels were removed, moved, or added as required. The three character hu code was assigned within each drainage basin beginning upstream and proceeding sequentially to each hu downstream.
1.4.1  Progress  text  "complete"
"in work"
"planned"
The status of the data set development. Complete
1.4.2 Maintenance and Update Frequency text "Continually" "Daily"
"Weekly" "Monthly" "Annually" "Unknown"
"As needed" "Irregular"
"None planned" free text
The frequency with which changes and additions are made to the data set after the initial data set is completed. Continually

Eastern-most coordinate of the limit of coverage expressed in longitude, in decimal degree.  -75.1250
1.5.1.3  North Bounding Coordinate  real  -90.0 <
North Bounding Coordinate
< 90.0
Northern-most coordinate of the limit of coverage expressed in latitude, in decimal degree.  39.5000
1.5.1.4  South Bounding Coordinate  real  -90.0 <
South Bounding Coordinate
< 90.0
Southern-most coordinate of the limit of coverage expressed in latitude, in decimal degree.  36.5000
1.6.1 Theme Keywords  text  free text  Words or phrases summarizing the theme of the data set.  Airport, aviation
1.6.2 Place Keywords  text  free text  Words or phrases summarizing the place of the data set.  Virginia, Commonwealth
1.6.4  Temporal Keyword text  free text  Words or phrases summarizing the period of time covered by the data set.  1994
1.7 Access Constraints text free text Restrictions and legal prerequisites for accessing the data set. These include any access constraints applied to assure the protection of privacy or intellectual property, and any special restrictions or limitations on obtaining the data set. Data licensed for public agency use only.
1.8  Use Constraints  text  "none"

Restrictions and legal prerequisites for using the data set after access is granted (ex. transferring to others).  none
2.3  Completeness Report text  free text  Information about omissions, selection criteria, generalization, definitions used, and other rules used to derive the data set that may affect the completeness of content of the data.  All general aviation and commercial airports in the Commonwealth of Virginia are included.
2.4.1.2.1  Horizontal Positional Accuracy Repor text  free text  A statement or explanation of the accuracy of the horizontal position of the spatial objects in the data set and a description of the tests conducted to determine the horizontal spatial accuracy of the data set. The horizontal positional accuracy meets 1:24,000 national map accuracy standards.
2.4.2.1  Vertical Positional Accuracy Report text  free text  An explanation of the accuracy of the vertical positions of spatial objects and a description of the tests conducted to determine the vertical spatial accuracy of the data set.  Not applicable
2.5.1.2  Source Scale Denominator integer  1200
4800
12000
24000
100000
250000
1000000
The denominator of the scale fraction of source map(s). Example: on a 1:24000 scale map, the Source Scale Denominator is 24000; on a “100 scale” map (1 inch = 100 feet) the Source Scale Denominator is 1200. If no source maps were used, enter zero (e.g. GPS data). If multiple source map scales were used, enter the Source Scale Denominator of the smallest scale map (largest denominator). ~24,000
3.2  Direct Spatial Reference Method  text  "point"
